• When I think about archives, I thought about this scene from 13 Reasons Why; a bunch of tapes packaged in a shoe box. It fit perfectly with the British Asian that I interviewed as she owns a full box of memories from her childhood, so I am kind of inspired by both layout.

• With my idea changing, I started to explore CD covers and using this idea to create a voice memo archive. 
• I am thinking to print the images large scaled poster and turning the poster into a CD cover and I really like the layout of this cover

• Looking at images with a white background, these research references images seem to be very posy and since I want the voice memo to create the image I have to first figure out the content of the voice memo before creating the image.

I created a digital stop-motion as well as this stop-motion gif, to create a 10-second digital animation outcome took the whole morning and I realized how inefficient it was. This was a one week project and it was impossible to create a polished final outcome in this speed. I also thought through exploring stop motion by hand, I didn't quite like the quality and how it turned out. I have to come up with a plan B. 

I have been always extremely intrigued by Mr. IOZO's work, I started out seeing his Instagram name pop up on several other artist's post comments, for example, John Yu Yi. Reaching out to different artists to collaborate. His work is mainly focused on photography, but somehow he brings in different media to explore within photography, his work brings in more dimension to the 2D outcome.

• Before finalizing my interview questions I also came across this article which helped me to develop more generic questions to all British Asians, questions like:
  • Do you consider yourself as an Asian or more British? And, why is that? 

  • To you, what does being Asian mean?

  • Have you ever tried to engage the Asian culture?

I wanted the artwork to play the association game, so each page in the book juxtaposes 2 visual elements which do not have a clear relationship. It’s always a photograph and illustration placed together in the opposing bands colors red and blue. The aim is to create images that will conjure up stories in your head.

• Another way of creating the voice memo archive is through displaying it as a booklet, and have images flip through that follows the voice memo to tell the story.

• A few months back I saw an exhibition at the Somerset House that had a series of photographs that documented the lifestyle of people, the images are very refined and unprocessed
• I love the posing and the setting of the images and how close you can feel the people are to you
